LUNDU: The only way to show appreciation for the development brought to their areas was to continually give support to Barisan Nasional (BN), the people were told yesterday.
In pointing this out, Santubong MP Datuk Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said BN had made it its responsibility to entertain all requests from the people as it cared for the people’s wellbeing, especially those in the rural areas.
He said this when launching the gravity water system for Kampung Sungai Limo, here yesterday.
“The government understands the hardship faced by those staying in the rural areas. This is why I stress how important it is for the people to continue supporting BN.”
Adding that the development achieved by Malaysia had been acknowledged by other countries, he said giving their support to the opposition would only disrupt major development plans, especially those earmarked for rural areas.
“There is a long way to go for Malaysia in terms of economic and development progress. Therefore, the people should understand that all these do not come in a short period of time,” he added.
Turning to the community leaders, he told them to know their roles in disseminating government plans and policies to the people to ensure that their support remained with BN.

Later on, he announced a grant of RM20,000 for the improvement of the village hall and an additional RM10,000 for the gravity water system.
The gravity water system, which was built on a RM150,000 budget, will serve 50 houses in the village of around 200 villagers.
Also present were political secretary to the Chief Minister Bujang Helmi, State BN Youth deputy chief Pandi Suhaili and JKKK chairperson Samara Hambong.
