Wong Judat just play acting – Pandi

BINTULU: The political situation surrounding Meluan assemblyman Wong Judat is a farce for the public to marvel at, claimed state PBB Youth vice-chief Pandi Suhaili.

Wong, who is also SPDP vice-president, was reported to be still undecided on his future in the party although he was reported to have said earlier that he would quit it and join Sarawak Workers Party (SWP).

Commenting on Wong’s call for him (Pandi) to ask the five elected representatives from SPDP who were sacked from the party and who then set up BN Club to also vacate their seats, Pandi said this clearly indicated that Wong had failed to understand his own political situation.

The three-term Meluan assemblyman was reported to have said that it was unfair for Pandi to request him to vacate Meluan seat when he (Wong) had not made his decision official.

He said Pandi had pre-empted his decision, adding he (Pandi) might as well call on the five elected representatives who were sacked from SPDP more than six months ago to vacate their seats too.

SARIKEI: Is Meluan assemblyman Wong Judat having second thoughts?

Following the hoo-hah over his announcement on July 21 that he would quit SPDP on July 31, Wong came out yesterday to say that news reports about his quit decision are “inaccurate”.

“As far as I am concerned, news reports on my decision to quit SPDP at the end of this month are inaccurate. I have yet to make an official announcement on the matter.

“It is common knowledge that such an important decision can only be confirmed in black and white or through an official letter,” he said when met by The Borneo Post yesterday.

Unlike his firm stand last Saturday, Wong played sly yesterday when he declined to rule out the possibility of him resigning from SPDP by reiterating “only an official letter can confirm this”.

Pergerakkan Pemuda PBB Sarawak menghormati pendirian Yang Berhormat Wong Judat untuk keluar dari SPDP dan menyertai SWP.

Ia merupakan hak individu.

Tetapi pada masa yang sama, Pergerakkan Pemuda PBB Sarawak mendesak agar Wong menghormati penyokong Barisan Nasional di DUN Meluan dengan mengosongkan kerusi.

Wong dipilih sebagai wakil rakyat atas tiket Barisan Nasional. Dan sewajarnya beliau mengosongkan kerusi DUN Meluan sebelum dia menyertai SWP.

Barisan Nasional tidak memerlukan mana-mana wakil rakyat yang mementingkan diri sendiri dan bukannya parti.

Perjuangan Barisan Nasional berlandaskan perjuangan rakyat dan bukannya perjuangan individu, seperti parti pembangkang yang memperjuangkan nasib seorang sahaja iaitu Datuk Anwar Ibrahim.

Apa yang dilaung-laungkan oleh pembangkang sebagai memperjuangkan nasib rakyat hanyalah satu sandiwara kerana sekiranya rakyat benar-benar penting, maka tidak timbul isu siapa akan jadi Perdana Menteri Malaysia sekiranya pembangkang menguasai parlimen.

Tetapi sehingga sekarang, pembangkang kelihatan ragu-ragu dengan siapa yang patut menjadi Perdana Menteri Malaysia - Anwar, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang atau orang lain?

Memperjuangkan nasib rakyat ialah misi utama Barisan Nasional. 

Barisan Nasional tidak meletakkan individu lebih penting dari parti. 

Atas sebab itu, Wong mesti kosongkan kerusi DUN Meluan sekiranya beliau menghormati pendirian penyokong Barisan Nasional yang telah menyokongnya atas dasar beliau bertanding atas tiket Barisan Nasional.

Victory shows Talib has strong support in Jepak

BINTULU: Datuk Talib Zulpilip’s success in retaining Jepak in the 10th state election represents a clear signal that the majority of the people in that constituency still wanted him to serve them and raise their standard of living.

The Bintulu MP’s political secretary Zaiedy Nor Abu Nasir told reporters at the vote tallying centre that the winning margin also showed that Talib had changed his approach in helming Jepak to remain relevant.

He also revealed that the results obtained in some areas turned out to be a surprise.

“For instance, the ballot boxes from some areas were earlier targeted to win but lost in the end. We had also expected Malay votes to be divided but it did not. In fact, there was an increase in the number of Malay votes.”

In congratulating Talib, Zaiedy mentioned that PBB and SPDP had worked very closely to secure victory.
