KUCHING: Chief Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah praised the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth wing for lodging a police report against Radio Free Sarawak.

He said the movement had done a justified act because its members were trying to fight an evil cause aimed at creating disunity among the ‘rakyat’.

“It is my hope that Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), Home Ministry (KDN) and police would investigate and (subsequently) take action against those involved,” he said when met during the BN Convention at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) yesterday.

He pointed out that all parties should be united in protecting the racial harmony that is being enjoyed by all.

The PBB youth wing led by its youth vice chief Pandi Suhaili lodged a police report against the radio station at the Simpang Tiga Police station last Friday.

KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth is urging the police to take action against Radio Free Sarawak if investigation shows it has violated the country’s Sedition Act.

The Malaysia Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) should also take action against the radio station if it is operating without a valid licence.

The party’s vice-Youth chief Pandi Suhaili said they decided to lodge a police report after Deputy Minister of Information, Communication and Culture Datuk Joseph Salang said MCMC could take action against the radio station.

“We hope the authorities take harsh action against the radio station because it is causing the rakyat to feel uneasy with the content of its broadcasting, which we understand is instigating them to hate the government,” he said when met at Simpang Tiga Police Station yesterday.

He added that the peace and harmony enjoyed by the rakyat were under threat from the radio station said to be operating illegally in the country.

KUCHING: A group, comprising members of the various Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth wings, lodged a police report against Radio Free Sarawak for causing tensions among the community here and wanted the radio’s operation to be stopped immediately.

Led by PBB Youth Vice-Chief, Pandi bin Suhaili, and a legal advisor, Firdaus Morshidi, the group lodged the report at the Simpang Tiga police station’s One-Stop Centre at 3.30 pm yesterday.

Pandi and Firdaus told the media that they also wanted the police to take action against Radio Free Sarawak due to its anti- Sarawak government stand and comments, which were seditious and defamatory.

PBB Youth Information Chief, Abdul Aziz Adenan, said action should be taken against the operators of the radio which was being operated without valid licence.

“ D e p u t y M i n i s t e r o f Information, Communication and Culture, Datuk Joseph Salang Gandum, had stated that the Malaysian Commission Multimedia Commission (MCMC) had traced the signal to Melaka and not London as alleged by the operators,” said Aziz.
