Closer ties with international professionals will improve Sarawak health services – Taib

Posted on June 7, 2012, Thursday

KUCHING: Intensified interaction with international medical professionals will enable the quality of health services in Sarawak to improve further, said Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.

He said while Sarawak could take pride with the success of various initiatives over the years in extending health services to all its scattered population, the quality of the services could not be assumed to have improved automatically.

“We have to interact as much as possible within the professionals across the borders so as to make sure we are abreast with all people that we bring into the country to improve our health services whether in the form of human capital or in the form of new technology,” he said.

He said this when opening the 10th Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) International Scientific Congress at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here.

BEKENU: Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud has assured the people that all their woes and cries for help are heard loud and clear by the government.

He said the government would continue to address them as it sees all problems besieging the people as potentials to bring about even greater development and progress to the state.

Speaking at the earth-breaking ceremony for the proposed multi-purpose market in Bekenu town here yesterday, Taib said all state leaders served the people and state whole heartedly and with sincerity.

“They (leaders) serve with all their heart and might without thinking of gratifications and monetary gains for their service. People’s cries and woes are heard by leaders and the government.”

Taib said all leaders had been taught since day one not to see problems as problems but as potential to do something good for the state and to change people’s lives.
