Closer ties with international professionals will improve Sarawak health services – Taib

Posted on June 7, 2012, Thursday

KUCHING: Intensified interaction with international medical professionals will enable the quality of health services in Sarawak to improve further, said Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.

He said while Sarawak could take pride with the success of various initiatives over the years in extending health services to all its scattered population, the quality of the services could not be assumed to have improved automatically.

“We have to interact as much as possible within the professionals across the borders so as to make sure we are abreast with all people that we bring into the country to improve our health services whether in the form of human capital or in the form of new technology,” he said.

He said this when opening the 10th Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) International Scientific Congress at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here.

“The hosting of the congress is the best way to make Sarawakians to concentrate much more on the development of health services in our country,” he said. -Bernama
