KUCHING: More responses of solid support for Chief Minister Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud to retain his post as Chief Minister and continue being the leader to Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) and Sarawak Barisan Nasional (BN) poured in yesterday from several PBB Youth branch chiefs.
Samariang PBB Youth chief Haji Mohamad Azrai Karim when contacted by New Sarawak Tribune yesterday said that they sincerely hope Taib would retain his positions as the Chief Minister, head of PBB and Sarawak government.
“Pehin Sri is a a remarkable leader with his own vision and ability to lead Sarawak to a higher level, and if compared to the other states in Malaysia, the development and political stability in Sarawak is more visible to a stage that we, the people are very proud to be Sarawakians.” “As a leader, he is at his own level of distinction which is very hard to replace, and as long as he could lead us, we sincerely would give full support to him without any hesitation,” said Azrai in a telephone interview.
Meanwhile, Zone 9 Mukah PBB Youth chief Pandi Suhaili said that all their committee members are behind the leadership of Taib.
“We unanimously support the call and urge Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud to continue leading the party and be the chief minister,” he said when contacted yesterday.
Pandi, who is also the PBB vice Youth chief, said all the Youth zonal committee members - namely Raymund Josep Tanin who is the vice chief, Ryandy Teckin (Balingian Youth Chief ), Roslan Abu Lana (Daro Youth Chief ), Razalee Rajaee (Dalat Youth Chief ), Nazirin (Semop Youth Chief ) and Ayub Ali (Jemoreng Youth Chief ) - also call on other youth leaders to come forward to express their support to the wing’s stand.
Youth PBB exco member Peter Sigie echoed a similar tone by saying the state and party could not afford not to have Taib helming the party, adding that Taib is a visionary leader who has helped to develop the state.
“An important matter such as succession of top leaderhip is not something which we can take lightly because it could have a massive impact on the party and state as a whole,” he said, adding it would be for the best interest of the state and party if Taib continues to lead.
The Padungan Youth Chief Haidel Heli took to task those who are t r ying to give an impression that Taib is no longer enjoying the support of the majority of the rakyat.
“This group of people are doing this because they have ulterior motives ... not because they are sincere,” he said.
He pointed out that even an opposition leader Sarawak National Party (SNAP) president Edwin Dundang Bugak didn’t want Taib to step down, as reported in a local newspaper.
“It is an undeniable fact that Taib has brought massive development into Sarawak ... and therefore, by continuing to lead the state and party, Taib would be able to implement his visionary plan for the rakyat,” he said.
The PBB Youth leaders are standing firm behind the call by the wing that the party president Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud continue to lead the party, and they also supported the call for Taib to stand in the coming state election.
