Mambong MP on the right track – PBB Youth veep

BINTULU: Mambong MP Datuk Dr James Dawos Mamit “is right” in standing up to problems plaguing his constituency, and the recent report published by a tabloid speculating his impending fall is just being “naughty”.

PBB Youth vice chief Pandi Suhaili said all BN elected representative must speak for the rights and interests of the people in their respective constituencies, irrespective of whether they are from the BN or opposition camps.

“We believe Mambong MP Datuk Dr James Dawos Mamit has done the right thing by stating his stance on the logging issue in his area,” Pandi said in his blog concerning a recent report published by a tabloid.

Among other things, the tabloid said speculations were rife that Dawos, who is also Deputy Tourism Minister, would be dropped in the coming 13th general election after he openly criticised the Forestry Department last June over a logging issue at the Bengoh Resettlement Scheme.

The tabloid claimed that some BN leaders were unhappy and had approached a few individuals to find out if they were interested to stand in Mambong.

Pandi: “We believe the report was made with the intention to give a negative impression on the BN government … so that the people will see the BN as not being open-minded in dealing with the people’s problems.

“I think the report is just being naughty for saying that the BN representative will be dropped for expressing his opinion on a matter that affects the people in his constituency.”

Pandi opined that issues on the ground and whether an elected representative would be dropped were separate issues.

He said the BN would consider all relevant factors before deciding whether someone should be dropped or retained for an election.

“We are hoping that no parties will come out with naughty speculations against any BN elected representatives, particularly those from PBB,” he said.
