BINTULU: Bintulu will be a stable society because it has ample employment opportunities to sustain its population.
It will not be a transition town as the government has been able to plan and execute various economic projects to develop it to be a more significant model of development compared to what Miri experienced some 50 years ago.
In fact, there is now more than full employment in Bintulu as it there are more job opportunities than the job seekers, said Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.
“Bintulu people have to see the future, you have to hope for greater things that will come in a permanent way, therefore we ought to realise SCORE will bring the waves of developed society for the people of Sarawak,” he said.
On SCORE (Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy), he said it would need more skilled workforce which should be met by encouraging youths to take up vocational and technical education.
“The younger generation must be brought up to be able to equip themselves for new opportunities,” he added.
He said SCORE would be the catalyst of growth for the state and would not be a small and temporary wave of development that only brings opportunities during construction period but would offer permanent employment.
“The factories are going to be continuously productive and will bring new opportunities especially in downstream industries,” he said when speaking at the Bintulu Hari Raya Aidilfitri gathering at Dewan Martabat at RPR Sebiew here last Tuesday night.
He said a new era will emerge with the industrialisation process that will increase the wealth of the state.
“In 20 years, most people would at least be able to get RM3, 000, the future of RM100 pay per day is not a temporary thing but it is something to come and to stay,” saidTaib.
Among those present were the chief minister’s wife Puan Sri Ragad Kurdi Taib, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu, State Legislative Assembly speaker Datuk Amar Mohd Asfia Awang Nasar, Tourism Assistant Minister Datuk Talib Zulpilip and his wife Datin Zaliha Christine, Welfare, Women and Family Development Minister Datuk Fatimah Abdullah and her husband Datu Adi Badiozaman Tuah and Public Utilities (Electricity and Telecommunications) Assistant Minister Datuk Dr Stephen Rundi.
