KAPIT: The electorate here have been advised to fully support Kapit MP Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi in the 13th general election as he is a “capable, dedicated and committed” leader.

Speaking at a Hari Raya gathering at Kampung Baru community hall here on Saturday, chief political secretary to the chief minister, Abdullah Saidol, said he had attended a number of BN closed-door meetings in Kuching and Kuala Lumpur, and during such meetings he noted that Nanta would always voice out the concerns and needs of his people.

“Among the things he often raised is the need to expedite infrastructure development to enhance the living standard of the people.

“He (Nanta) is a good leader and we must therefore give him our full support by voting for him in the coming general election,” said Saidol, to deafening applause from those present.

He opined that the key criteria of a good ‘wakil rakyat’ is he or she must be capable, dedicated and also committed in discharging all responsibilities and duties entrusted.

“Nanta meets all these criteria and his track record speaks loud and clear for all to see.”

Saidol, who is also Semop assemblyman, advised the people to rally behind the BN government in the coming polls and not to gamble their future away.

“The 13th general election could be held anytime from now. The rakyat must fully rally behind the BN government.

“They must exercise their wisdom and be rational, not emotional. Don’t gamble with their future.”

Saidol said the Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak administration had introduced many initiatives over the past three years, such as the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) and housing assistance programmes, because it was concerned about the wellbeing of the people.

“With such a good government, the rakyat must reciprocate to ensure that after the next general election, Najib remain our prime minister.”

At the gathering, Saidol announced a RM10,000 grant for the Hari Raya Qurban/Aidil Adha activity, RM3,000 each for Kampung Baru, Kampung Muhibbah Bletih and Kampung Bletih II, and RM1,000 for the Kemas Kindergarten.

Among the 500 people present were PBB Youth deputy chief Daniel Jubang, PBB Youth (Economic Bureau) chairman Pandi Suhaili, political secretaries to the chief minister Tengku Geruna and Wilson Nyabong, PBB Youth committee members Radin Kaderi Radin Budiman, Jefferson Jamit and Petter Segie, Kapit police chief DSP Entusa Iman, deputy Kapit Resident Mohd Ikhmal Abdullah, Jasa officer Mohd Matan Yok, Pemanca Badi Nuawi, Ketua Kampung Sepawi Bujang and Sadia Kapit chairman Edward Manggah.
